Kuriri, Pacific golden plover

Where you can find them:

From the Arctic in the north to New Zealand's subantarctic islands in the south. You can see them around Wairarapa Moana from September to March.

What they look like:

A little golden-sandy bird with black speckles, and a white and brown belly. It has big beautiful eyes that can see far and wide.

Did you know:

They fly directly from Alaska to Hawaiʻi — that’s flying 50 hours non-stop for 4,800 kilometres.
