Friends of Onoke Spit on the western shore of Lake Onoke

Friends of Onoke Spit on the western shore of Lake Onoke 11th and 13th May 2016

The Friends of Onoke Spit had two planting days at the Spit in May. As well as planting a variety of native plants on the back dune (to replace a predominance of gorse and enhance the native habitat), saltmarsh ribbonwood plants were planted closer to the Lake Onoke shore. Pupils from Pirinoa School and Kahutara School, our young generation of enthusiastic conservationists, helped to plant.
