Featherston Youth Group Planting

A successful planting day was held on Sunday the 7th of August.

The planting of wetland plants is a new project for the Featherston Youth Programme. The planting of harakeke/flaxes and ti kouka/cabbage trees is to enhance the ability of the area to function as a wetland.  Donald’s Creek is a stream that runs through Featherston and is a tributary to Lake Wairarapa. So the planting also highlights the importance of wetlands and connecting the community with Wairarapa Moana.
